Why hire a design-build team?

A designed landscape will be more sophisticated because designers have formal training in the use of  plants and hardscapes to achieve visual unity in outdoor spaces.  They use the visual qualities of these materials- line, form, tone, color and texture - to create harmony, interest and a sense of enclosed space in the outdoors. Designers also must work with the changing design qualities of living plants - flowers, foliage and growth - to achieve these goals.  When you hire a design-build team, you can expect a higher level of quality and beauty, knowing that the designer and contractor already have a smooth and efficient working relationship.

What does it mean to utilize organics in the landscape?

We try to use fertilizers, pesticides, and weed retardants that are non-toxic and environmentally safe. These products are certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) as "allowed" by the USDA's National Organic Program.

These products are biodegradable and will not build up in the soil or in the water table.  Additionally, we utilize natural fertilizers that break down slowly to release nutrients in the soil at a rate that is most effectively used by plants.  Manufactured fertilizers tend to leach into the water table before they are used by plants, thus polluting the aquifer.  Finally, we try to balance the environment in your yard by planting native and disease resistant plants that hold up to the stresses of our ecosystem.

We offer this service to you as an option, and encourage you to take this approach.

What is a hardscape?

The term "hardscape" refers to any non-living structural element of your garden, including wood, stone, and pavers.
